The economy has many of us thinking about our product purchase decisions. Are we buying the right products at the best price? We were curious to hear if you are re-evaluating your purchase decisions in light of the economic downturn?
Please tell us! We want to know what you think.
Less likely - I'm sticking to tried-and-true favorites, this is not a time to experiment (12.5%)
Equally likely - The economy hasn't changed my love of trying new things (44.0%)
More likely - I like trying new, less expensive alternatives to cut back (43.5%)
The little money we have these days need to go toward products I know will work. I don't have extra cash to experiment with products that I have never tried!
I think in most cases you get what you pay for so it depends on what i am buying. I think when it comes to most food items ( not all) that you can get a store brand or non name brand for a lot cheaper and cut back. But I think if I were to buy a car or some sort of electroic equipment like a computer or a TV, I think price would be less of an issue, becaue when you fork over big dollar its quality you want even if it means paying a bit more. So I guess for me and my family it depends on what were buying. But I can tell you were taking a hard look at our real needs. we have 2 regular TV's at home and we have decided that we just don't need an HDTV, its more of a want than a need, and when you look at things like that in your budget, it helps to cut out a lot of unessecary stuff.
My business has taken a hit due to the economy, and I've seen my income dip a bit, but my purchasing philosophy is similar to my business philosophy: what's the best ROI? I don't like to buy in bulk, as I don't really have a place to store things, living and working out of a condo, but I do pay a lot of attention to the unit price. For example, I just purchased a box of cereal, and I went with the bigger, more expensive size because it was about three cents cheaper per ounce, so I knew that even though it was 50 cents more expensive than the smaller one, I was getting a better value.
we should all put are trust in the good Lord he will meet oujr needs
I just started using coupons on clearance items! when cover girl is maked down to 1.50 for a thing of powder and the coupons for 1.00 ,,,, .50 isn't bad! LOL
i try to use my coupons for most of want i buy. i always wait for things to go on sale. every little bit helps. some off brands are even better .
With money being tight, I cant afford to be brand loyal anymore. I will try something new if it is less expensive, if it works great, if not lesson learned. One thing you cant skimp out on though, TP. Yikes!
budget is definately a consideration these days, but there are lots of deals out there that fit into it. In some way it is a good time to try new things that are right for the family's needs.
True times are getting hard and I do tend to look at the off brand items similar to the ones I use, but I still have not made the switch to the cheaper items. I tend to stick to the ones I already use and have even been experimenting with other name brand products that are equal or more expensive in price.
I always look at the labels to compare ingredients. Usually I find they are the same, or very close, as the brand names I would typically buy. You won't know if you like it until you try it.
