Sarah Palin is John McCain's choice for VP running mate. This will be a historic election! The US will either have our first African American President or our first female Vice President!
What do you think of McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate? Does it make you more likely to vote for him?
Yes (40.9%)
No (45.6%)
Not sure - need to learn more (13.5%)
I think Palin will be good because she is a mother and has been in the public schools. Especially with a special needs child, she will understand what mandatory standardized testing does to students who are unable to test where the government thinks they should. Maybe she will help to do away with No Child Left Behind which does nothing but leave children behind.
I do not think Palin should have accepted being McCain's running mate. She has a family of young children at home - the youngest with downs sydrome. I think she should raise her family first and if being VP or president is something she wants to do she could run when her children are not as dependent on her.
Whats wrong with Obama? Why not Obama. We have given other elected officials a chance to run our cities and our country with less creditials. Who knows change may be just what this country needs its worth 4 years of mine time to find out.
It's too bad we can't take a little from this candidate and a little from that one and combine them. We need to start thinking about the future and get rid of some of the old school ways. All of these promises-will they keep them when it's all over? It's not about what they say they can do,but what will they actually do when it's all said and done.
Desperate for what he lacks, being that his public speaking is horrible and no emotion- Palin, is in to take up the slack. I know he cose a woman because he saw how Hillary got the votes. I know I couldn't handle another 4, let alone EIGHT more years of Bushism!
Palin?? Seriously?? I was on the fence between the candidates until McCain began catering the the ultra conservative Republicans. But he was still an option for me. NO WAY NOW! Being a woman, I am insulted that the Republican party believes they can put this woman on the ticket. She ran a PTA (that was actually a pushing point of Reps) - does this make her capable of running the country?? I know it is hard work, but how can anyone possible compare the two. She says she voted against the road to no-where, but only after she asked for the 27 million in earmarks to build it and it was taken off the table. And a small town of 10,000 is not comparable. Goodness Gracious!! What were they thinking???
I was trying to keep an open mind about Palin. At first I couldn't believe she would want to do a job like being vp and let somone else basically raise special needs child. If your VP you travel and do all kinds of stuff where you are not at home. A child's first year is critical to form that bond with it's parents. Not having a special needs child so I don't know but I would almost think it was even more critical. Second in her speech last night she tried and tried to build herself up and say look how good I am, And yes it seems like she did a lot of great things for Alaska but why did she have to make personal attacks on the Democratic party. It's one thing if your going to attack their stance on a subjects but some of the comments that were made and she laughed like it was fun and chldish were just distasteful. I wouldn't want anyone like that being VP or President for that matter. It was like high school all over again. You lost my vote Palin. You need to grow up.
I prefer a man who has gone the distance for ALL Americans to have freedom. He cannot even raise his arm to salute the flag because of the torture he received. Palin is the icing on the cake. I like her spunk, and she did give credit to other women who have run for office, including Ferraro and Hillary. Colin Powell would have been wonderful, but since he isn't running, I'm going with McCain.
Palin is a horrible choice. McCain is using her to swing woman voters to his side.
Not only is it insulting, but it implies that women aren't smart enough to make informed decisions, and instead make choices based on facades.
To me it's a clear choice. Vote for your kids, vote for Obama!
Gov. Palin seems like a good pick. But it's still early. I would have like for McCain to have picked former Gov. Huckabee. It's going to be a close race between the two. And Obama should have picked Hillary!
