Would a woman make a good US President?

We had to ask!  With the campaign for the 44th US President in full swing, we are in the midst of a historic election.  Senator Clinton could very well be the Democratic nominee for President in the 2008 elections.

As a woman, do you think that a woman could be a good US President?  Better than a man?  What do you think that a woman might bring to the table that a man could not?  Please share your thoughts.

Yes (54.7%)

No (12.4%)

Maybe (32.9%)

Yes. Women have been in the position of President/Premier/Prime Minister (and let us not underestimate the power of "Queen") etc. in a variety of countries all over the world for quite some time now. It is high time our country got with the program. I came across something today in the international press that many might find as interesting an idea as I did. Being a woman has no bearing on how good a president someone would be. Of course a woman could be a good president - but not every woman could, just as not every man could. It depends on the individual.

The gender of an individual does not matter in the workplace, since we even have legislation against such discrimination. So why would someone pose such a in my mind "stupid" question if a woman can take the political office? This refers to the question can women take positions of power. Why should it matter? Have our predecessors lobbied for nothing?

I think a woman would be as equal as a man. It all depends on the individual. One particular man could be better than a woman, but another woman could be better than both of them. I feel that if we do get a woman president, its not going to be what we expected. Delusions of grandure comes to my mind. I really don't think this is the year we'll see it.

I do feel that gender plays a huge role in politics. While I feel that America is ready for a woman as President, I'm not so sure how that would work with other countries who actually degrade women. We have all ready seen the effects of women ruling in Pakistan, so what might happen with our relationship with other countries by having a woman rule as our political leader? As a general question, should a woman become president, I think that many of the comments are correct in stating that it depends on the individual. It takes a very strong woman who can compete in a masculine driven political system.

I think gender doesn't matter.A man or woman can do the job but it's where they stand on the issues that i look at the most.As far as foreign relations goes many countries already have women leaders, and prime ministers. we are actually asfar behind as the countries that degrade woman and as for dealing with those countries the women leaders of other countries do just fine and besides, if they don't like us now they wont like us in the future regardless of who runs this country.man or woman, they may add it to the list but if it wasn't that reason they'd just find another and another.now just show me a good woman running that i actually like.

We have men presidents that weren't all that good. Gender has no part in if someone can lead. The trick is to be honest and well informed so that others will follow.

There are many countries where women have already been President and these women have done a great job. Why would the US be any different?

I am hoping that a women wins the election. Gender should not be an issue. I think it is time that we have a women in the white house. She can't be any worse that the men who have been in office up to now.
