I don't think it's wise for a woman to be in office. Women are usually lead by there feelings. Men seem to lead there feelings. I also know that this will hit some nerves, but I'm all for War in order to keep our Country free. Most people say it's not our War to fight, it is when other countries are in need. HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS WHEN THE NEED ARISES., because one day we are gonna need that help back when we are up against something bigger and much stronger ...We need a Strong person thats lead by God in office not lead by Satan...
Maybe not with Hillary.
Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, Queen Isabella of Spain, Queen Mary of Scotland, Cleopatra, Queen Nor(sp.?) of Jordan, the list is more vast than my memory. But America is young and will catch up with the world. It has never been about the sex of the ruler, but the strength of their integrity.
I would have to agree with you daintydandy.
Joann19677 I agree totally. Woman and Men are DIFFERENT! No one says that a woman is not capable, but we were made differently for a reason.
Wow, is anyone else as frightened by some of the outdated, stereotypical responses as I am?
Of course a woman would make a good president--as long as she has all the qualities necessary for a good leader. Her gender should not be an issue, except that it is about time we started practicing what we preach about equality and giving women equal opportunities in this country--and until a woman can run for and win the highest seat in the nation without questions like this, we're no where near it.
People are different, women and men are not. For every overly emotional woman in the world, there's an overly emotional man to match her. While I do know women who match some of the stereotypes posted above, I also know women on the opposite end of the spectrum--women who remain calm in a crisis, who react rationally when a problem occurs. You want to talk stereotypes and 'natural roles'--I think it's hysterical that we don't trust men to run a household, that most people will quip "If men had the babies, the human race would be extinct" without a second thought, that a large percentage of women won't allow the men in their lives to run the washing machine because they're convinced they can't do it properly, and yet we trust those same men to run our country.
couponingmama, I'm with you. I am shocked at some of these comments - are we back in the 50's? I know that I, personally, would not want to be president, but that doesn't mean that NO woman can! To generalize that women are too emotional, etc is something I would expect to come from right-wing conservative old men, not from forward-thinking women! A woman can do any job that a man can! I know it's not talked about much anymore, but women STILL make less money for the same job as a man does. Where is the outrage in that?
I do feel for our first woman president. If she's too tough, she will be considered cold, harsh, unfeeling. But if she shows emotion, she's too wimpy. But I guess we still have to convince some of our own (this is SHEspeaks, isn't it?) that men and women should be considered equal on all levels.
It's not about the sex of a person - the president could be a man or a woman. The thing that matters is if the person is qualified for the job and they are going to be a good leader for the entire United States.
the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.
any person - man or woman - can become a great President!
It doesn't matter the race, or gender of a person. They have to have what it takes to lead our nation. A woman can do any thing a man can. Woman have just as much rights as anyone else.
