Which issue is weighing most heavily on your mind right now?

There seems to be a never ending list of things to worry about. With gasoline prices hitting an alltime high of $4 per gallon in many states, finances seem to be a big issue for many.

We wondered, what is the most pressing issue on your mind as we head into the summer?

Gas and food prices have me concerned. Our paychecks don't go up to help keep up with the rising prices. How do the expect us to make it very long?? Something needs to change and soon

With the way things are going on in today's society, I actually fear for the welfare of my two children. Education is a vital part of everyone's life and yet there seems to be little concern by some today in regards to the family as a whole. More people tend to use their own benefits against families rather than helping out those who truly need help. To many are looking for the here and now than looking to the future ...

Things are really sad right now, due to rising gas prices, which in turn effect everything else. I worry the most for my children. At least we have some savigs. It's such a shame that we are so dependent on oil. I say God help us all!

I am retired as well as my husband and therefore live on a fixed income, but I am not as worried about us as I am my children and grandchildren and what they will be facing in the future.

I recently changed jobs, and I took a pay cut to take a job that offered more job security. Now I have found out that I must move at the end of the summer. I am looking for a 2nd job now, just so I can save up for the move. We are sliding into new recession, head first at top speed. We have no hope of a stronger economy anytime in the near future with the pathetic excuses for presidential candidates either! The future of this country is hopeless!

I am a single parent with 2 children one is 7 and one is 14. I currently support myself, both of my children, my elderly mother and I just make 9.50 and hour and work 40 hours a week. I drive 60 miles a day round trip to go to work and back. I get no child support from the kid's father and have no other income. I am able to pay all my bills (rent, power, utilities, phone, satalite and internet, credit card and loan payments) fill my car up 2 twice a week and buy groceries and still have money left over. It's all in how you budget and in bargin shopping. I shop for groceries by buying off brands of staples like mac and cheese, I look for mark downs on the meat counter ( buy ribeye steaks for 4.99 a pound because they are at their last sell by day and are slightly dark as opposed to buying fresh cut steaks at 10.99 a pound.) Most meat markets will mark the meat going out that day down really cheap to get rid of it. They do the same thing with sliced lunch meats and hot dogs. I pick up hot dogs, sliced turkey and ham and other prepackaged meats for 25 to 75 cents a pack. Just because its last sell by date is that day. There is nothing wrong with the meat and it will be good for another week. I freeze it if I find a lot of packs. I buy day old bread at bread stores and I shop for clothes, shoes and household items at thrift stores. I also buy stuff at flea markets and yard sales. I use freecycle on a regular basis and the farmers markets sell produce at reasonable prices. (most grocery stores also mark down produce that is getting too ripe, and prepackaged salads and greens that reach their sell by date. Just thought I'd share a few tips that have worked for me. Using the system I have I even have enough money left over to take the kids to a movie and out to eat about 2 times a month or to an amusment park or special activity they want once a month.

I drive by my gas station everyday and am amazed at how quickly the prices jump day by day. I know the increase in oil prices is trickling to other markets such as produce, lumber, etc. and it seems there is no end. Currently both my husband and I work full time and we're grateful that we both have jobs, considering the unemployment rate increased. I am becoming better at cutting coupons and visiting thrifty website for insights into saving $$$ along with completing surveys to earn extra $$$/GC. Every bit helps nowadays.

this is ridiculous, with gas prices that keep going up seems like if your at a stop light ... and when it turns green gas goes up with in that few mins... everything is going up cept our paychks! I tend to purchase all my fresh veggies n fruits at our local flea market.. it seems much cheaper than going into a grocery store... where they charge per pound and at the flea market they charge per item.. if you go to the ones that know you at times they will give you discount.. unlike the stores they won't give you any discounts. here's a tip that I have found also.... they throw a lot away! ones they consider spoiled or rotten. if you actually look through them a lot of them are still usable! I get their throw aways for the goats that my inlaw has... and couple of times they've had tangerine that were in great condition ... even carrots.. and turnips... lettuce.. etc... so don't be afraid to ask for their unwanted items.. just need to take time to go through them...
