A retailer was recently criticized for marketing a push-up bikini top to young girls. At what age is it OK for girls to wear items such as push-up tops?

A retailer for tweens was recently lambasted for marketing a push-up bikini top to young girls.  What age do you think is appropriate for girls to wear "sexy" clothes?  What would you like to say to a retailer who markets these clothes to young girls?

At the age of 15 is when alot of girls start noticing different things about their bodies and doing things to enhance their look, I know I did.If I would of known about what a push up bra can do....I probably would of wore one....without my parents knowledge of course.....lol

Teenage girls are too young to put on something so artificial. Let their natural beauty and youth shine first. Also think under 18 is too young to promote their sexuality.

I don't know what parent in their right mind would buy such an item for a young girl. I think 16 and up would be more appropriate, IF the girl worked and paid for it herself. But not to little tweens or below 16. If my 12 year old asked for something like this I'd explain to her that she doesn't need it and what kind of message girls may be sending to boys and others that they might not be wanting to send. It's ultimately up to the parents to educate and guide their kids on what's appropriate and not rely on the media and their friends for advice.

There is never a reason for girls to wear push up bras or bikini tops. Really? What are parents that fall for this thinking. As a mother of two teenage boys I am always aware of how young girls today are presenting themselves. Retailers will try to get us to fall for anything. As parents, we need to set and enforce appropriate rules.

I agree with most posts here--sexy clothes for little girls and teenagers is disgusting and wrong. Shame on the fashion industry and television for promoting this gross behavior.

I had to choose "Never" because I agree 15 is still too young. 18+ should have been the option.

I don't approve of anyone wearing sexually explicit clothing out in public. If an age limit should be set, it should be over the age of 21 when the brain hopefully will make better decisions. Under no circumstances should the girl be under 18. What is wrong with this world? All we are shown is sex and violence on tv, magazines, etc. I don't even watch TV any more.
