We asked this question about a year ago and thought that it would be fun to do it again!
As women, different things motivate us. A group of friends recently got together and starting comparing notes on compliments. One had recently been told that she was beautiful. She said that it made her day. Another said that she would prefer to hear that she is special.
Perhaps, different comments are appropriate at different times but, it got us thinking about what we most liked to hear. There doesn’t seem to be a one size fits all.
What do you like to hear and why?

I love you (39.8%)
You're beautiful (22.9%)
You're smart (14.7%)
You're special (16.0%)
You're funny (6.5%)
I know we like to hear I love you, but sometimes if you come out of a room and they say wow you look beautiful, it feels so nice and makes your day! I would love to hear that once a week and would be happy forever! :0
I am surrounded by smart people and if they were to tell me I was smart then that would be a great honor
I've been told all of the above so many times...I've become immune to it..lol. I really don't know when it's genuine or not. But getting told you're special...it out weighs the rest. There's something about it, that makes it seem like they've taken notice in all of you're good qualities!
I have a great family who always says how much they love me, how beautiful I am (even when I first roll out of bed), How funny I am (I guess grown ups are funny creatures to 3 year olds...lol), and how smart I am!! It is such a blessing to be told these things on a regular basis...When I roll out of bed on the wrong side, it puts a smile on my face when my 3 year old says "mommy you have pretty hair" or when my 6 year old says "mommy you are so beautiful today!"
Beauty is God given. Special indicates how that person feels about youaside from being in love or physical features as a priority
My husband and I make sure to tell each other that we love each other every day. We do the same with our kids. We feel it is so important to say it each day as if it were your last. To know you are loved is the most important thing in the world.
I feel as you get older, as a woman, you begin to pick apart things on your body that "once were" or "could be" so to hear that you are beautiful, to me, just means the world!
I chose "you're special" because it makes me feels like a one and only. Many people can be beautiful or smart or funny. I'm told that I'm loved everyday by my husband and my kids. Being told i'm special makes me actually feel special.
As much as I'd like to hear them all, I think if I heard most of the compliments, I wouldn't quite believe them. So I went with the most honest one, "I love you."
I like making people laugh, it's in my nature!
