If you have a teen, do they enjoy reading for pleasure or do they prefer to do other activities in their spare time?

The third week in October is Teen Read Week. Does your teen enjoy reading or do they prefer to play sports or watch TV? Do you encourage reading in your household? What do your teens enjoy reading the most, or do they stick to books assigned from school?

My teen is a bookworm (27.5%)

My teen prefers to do other activities (20.5%)

I don't have a teenager (52.0%)

If you have a teen, do they enjoy reading for pleasure or do they prefer to do other activities in their spare time?

My daughter isn't a teen (she's almost 9) but she loves reading. She brings a book along with her whereever she goes.

Two of my four children love to read and do so quite a bit. My 14 year old will read books within a day. She reads alot of historically based books but also has read the entire twilight series as well as the gossip girls series.

OMG, my son will read and read and read. He will read the same book 10 times just to be reading. I can't get to the library enough. He hates writing though. He has started keeping up some files on the computer of imaginings and ideas for stories from my encouragement.

My son loves to read; however, there is usually a motive....AR points for school. All A's means money in his pocket and special priviledges:)

I so wish my son would get off the computer and read more. However I seriously cannot complain as he is an A-B highschool senior, but reading is still important

I have two teen girls, one is a huge bookworm and in gifted and honors class and can read a book a day especially if she is obsessed with the book, my other girl is a reader but takes 1-2 months or longer to read a book. I think she just hasn't caught the "reading bug" yet. I think once she finds that first book she just can't put down that will all change.
