Please tell us what you think.  We want to know!

I lost my job in October and I am having serious health problems which require many operations and procedures, so I can't get a new job yet. I am living off my savings account and buying only what I absolutely have to, or need.

I spend less, because i have less, I'm an out of work college student who doesn't *miraculously* qualify for any state assistance what so ever. I'm spending most of my time not in school looking for a job, but I also do not have a vehicle, because I can not afford one. I shop for groceries, and I stopped using coupons because they are for the name brand stuff and i can't afford that. I make homemade meals in large quantity so that i can freeze portions for later. it helps because i can not stomach ramen, spaghetti-os, or really any other broke food. I started college to get training in a field that not only interests me, but also is a steady profession that i can use in multiple public sectors. it took me two years to make the decision, because i wanted to make sure i knew everything i needed to up front. but even knowing what i needed to know and understanding it, it doesn't make getting a job to pay the bills while going to college any easier.

We have been spending less for about the past year. My husband is self employed, so there is always the concern of IF business will continue to come his way. I don't want to be in debt much more than with my house if at all possible. To accomplish this, spending less on day to day things (no extra items just because it is on sale, stacking coupons if possible, etc) to apply the extra towards the other impending bills. We have even implemented the "envelope system".

I not only am spending less, because I have less to spend. But, I just found out our Town Council wants to raise the local tax another percent. Everything in this town is already more expensive than many towns and cities. They also keep running ads trying to get people to 'buy local'. I am all for helping out the local businesses. But, if they raise the taxes in a down economy, then (other than groceries) I will probably resort to only online purchases, etc...

More, because my husband landed very well paying job :). Kind of sad- in this economy a lot of people suffer, but happened to be the best opportunity for us....

I am spending way less than I was since Hubby is again out of work. We have cut back on going out for meals and stay away from all the stores. Only buy essentials and definitely look for coupons and deals.
