Of the following compliments, which would you want to hear the most?

We asked this question about a year ago and thought that it would be fun to do it again!

As women, different things motivate us. A group of friends recently got together and starting comparing notes on compliments. One had recently been told that she was beautiful. She said that it made her day. Another said that she would prefer to hear that she is special.

Perhaps, different comments are appropriate at different times but, it got us thinking about what we most liked to hear. There doesn’t seem to be a one size fits all.

What do you like to hear and why?

I love you (39.8%)

You're beautiful (22.9%)

You're smart (14.7%)

You're special (16.0%)

You're funny (6.5%)

I love to laugh and to be able to make others laugh and feel good in a fun way is very powerful, I think.

Being told I'm beautiful is probably the best compliment I could receive. I already know that my husband loves me. It feels good to hear that you are beautiful when the media concocts an unrealistic image of what women should look like, and without plastic surgery is pretty much unattainable. It's nice to know that someone out there sees me as beautiful despite the expectations from the media.

I picked I love you because to me that is something that always comes from your heart. I get your beautiful from my hubby and family a lot, even though I think I'm not, lol.

I used to get called beautiful a lot when I was younger, but the toll of kids and routine has taken it's toll. So being told I was beatiful again would really lift my spirits.

I love making people laugh. It not only rewards me, but them as well. Laughing just makes you feel good.

I came from a home where no one ever said I love you. I think it is important to tell your children I love you and mean it. People don't always assume things correctly and it is nice to be reassured. I did not know my dad loved me for sure until he was older and finally came to the point to say it. To me it is a lesson I have learned to always tell my kids and others i love them. There is no shame in that!

truthfully, it has been so many years since i've really heard any of those (from someone i care about), so i would probably laugh and not take it seriously if anyone said one of the comments to me now...
