Considering the weak economy, if you had to replace a brand name product you purchase for something less expensive, which would you more likely choose?

Recently, the economic news about stronger than expected retail sales, has given many a glimmer of hope!  As shoppers however, we seem to be constantly looking for smart ways to save money.

If you were going to switch brands from a national brand to a less expensive brand, would you be more likely to do this for household products like paper towels/detergent or personal care products like face cream and deodorant?

We’d like to hear what you think!

More likely to replace a brand name household product (e.g., paper towlels) with a generic version (87.3%)

More likely to replace a brand name personal care product (e.g., face cream) with a generic version (12.7%)

Considering the weak economy, if you had to replace a brand name product you purchase for something less expensive, which would you more likely choose?

I currently buy generic household products but do not for beauty products. I have sensitve skin, so I would be afraid to use a product that I is not familiar to me or something I have not used before.

I'd never replace my facial products with a generic brand. Seriously, even if it meant having to use more cheap paper towels...I'd rather do that than risk getting more noticeable wrinkles!!!!! =)

Although I really love my Viva paper towels ,they would go before my personal care items.

Brand name paper towels will not help your wrinkles! So it would have to be the cleaning products!

Paper towels, cleaners, etc can all be generic for all I care!

Once I find a personal care product that works I am loath to switch or experiment; but consider most paper towels, dish soaps, cleaning fluids fairly interchangeable and stock up during sales.

i read labels maney personal care items are very similar but i can't stand a weak paper towel or buying a cheap brand of toilet paper and have it not last a full week.

With my sensitive skin and my sons' sensitive skin, I can't risk replacing any of our personal care items with a generic or store brand unless it's already one that I know won't have a negative effect. We've tried so many name brand products that didn't work for us that I now stick with whatever I find that works. I'm very leery of trying new things on my face (but would be open to it if it was a sample. I wouldn't give it to the boys though). I have found that some generic household products work better and smell better than name brands and are cheaper!
