A retailer was recently criticized for marketing a push-up bikini top to young girls. At what age is it OK for girls to wear items such as push-up tops?

A retailer for tweens was recently lambasted for marketing a push-up bikini top to young girls.  What age do you think is appropriate for girls to wear "sexy" clothes?  What would you like to say to a retailer who markets these clothes to young girls?

Why isn't there an 18+ option on this poll?! When you become an adult, you can choose what to wear, although even then it's not always a good thing (think: What Not to Wear. Stacy & Clinton have jobs because adults can't dress themselve appropriately!) Children shouldn't be allowed to focus all their self-worth on their image alone and this is just another product giving them the wrong impression! What happen to the good old days where wearing makeup as a teen was a big deal?!

I also think there should have been an 18+ option on the survey. I would have chosen that. I chose "never" because the next possible age on the survey was 15+ and that is way too young. I think there needs to be more clothing options for teens that aren't so low cut, also.

I believe that young girls today want to grow up to fast...puting a pushup bikini out on the market just gives pedophiles another reason to target young girls they might as well ware a sign that says "HEY PICK ME" ......I mean come on seriously what parent in there right mid would let there 11 or 12 year old daughter ware a pushup bikini?? Let's just let kids be kids

I think that the responsibility to regulate comes down to the parent. The retailers wouldn't be making the clothing if someone wasn't buying it, so it is more a problem with parents not wanting to enforce rules in their households about appropriate versus inappropriate clothing choices, than the retailers selling the items. I think as a society we have started wanting our children to be our friends and like us instead of being parents.

Children should be allowed to be children. If we allowed girls to feel comfortable in their own bodies more often we might not have so many insecure women

The clothing manufacturers will stop producing this stuff when we as consumers stop buying it. What parent in their right mind would even consider buying this junk anyway.

Why are companies trying to make little girls grow up so fast?

I think that parents need to give their daughters guidance about the inappropriateness of a young girl wearing a push up bra. If no parents allowed their children to wear it, it wouldn't sell and they would stop selling it. I think this is the same company that marketed thongs to young girls. I think it is a publicity stunt on the part of the store to get people talking about the store and maybe people will stop in and buy other things. I personally will never shop there again.
