If you have a teen, do they enjoy reading for pleasure or do they prefer to do other activities in their spare time?

The third week in October is Teen Read Week. Does your teen enjoy reading or do they prefer to play sports or watch TV? Do you encourage reading in your household? What do your teens enjoy reading the most, or do they stick to books assigned from school?

My teen is a bookworm (27.5%)

My teen prefers to do other activities (20.5%)

I don't have a teenager (52.0%)

If you have a teen, do they enjoy reading for pleasure or do they prefer to do other activities in their spare time?

My daughter who will be 17 in about a week absolutely hates to read. She only reads what has to be read to do her homework or whatever else is considered to be important. I really hate that she isnt a reader. She dont even like to read magazines of her own interests.

I have a 16 yr old son who loves to read!!! He spends his free time in the library picking out books or at home reading them. He is a BIG History buff, loves to read about history.

My daughter does not like reading. If we can find a book that she might find interesting she will. But by choice no and it makes it worse because now she has to read Band of Brothers for school project and she is not interested in history at all. So it is taking her awhile to get 1/2 through the book. Now my 10 yr old is like me always carrying a book around. He loves reading and is getting into classics now. I just can't imagine not having a book or magazine or something to read.

My teenage daughter sits on the computer a lot, which actually is reading. :)

Both of my older kids like to ready. I cannot really count the 20 year old as a "teen" though.

My 15 year old daughter and 13 year old son loves to read everywhere! My 6 year old on the other hand says he does not like to read...I personally think he's a great reader.

I am so excited to see lots of teens love to both read and write! Teens don't get enough credit these days for having an intellectual bone in their body! WTG parents. We are all doing something right. And WTG teens. :)

No Teen here, but I have a tween who is passionate about reading, and the library is a regular haunt for us. Getting a book store gift card is a great a treat as any for her. I love it!

My nineteen year old reads a lot. We sit and read our books together. It is very nice.
