Do you do your taxes yourself, or do you get them done by an accountant?

Tax Day is right around the corner on April 15th.  We’re curious if you do your own taxes, or you go to an accountant to get them done.  Have you already submitted them, or will you be waiting until the last minute?  Do you do them online or the old fashioned way?

Let us know!  We want to hear your take on taxes.

Yes, I will do them myself. Go me! (53.1%)

No, I use an accountant. Too confusing! (46.9%)

I educate myself on current tax codes and do my own taxes. I feel that it's a waste of money to pay a preparer to do my taxes when I am capable.

Too many new changes this time. Usually we do them ourselves but this year we are hiring out and then going to compare.

We have an accountant do our taxes because we own a business and it's just too complicated to do ourselves.

I'm lucky, my mother does them. She has been in accounting for years and saves me a ton of money. Not only that, I trust her.

we bought a house so this is the first year we took our taxes to a tax firm. my husband filled out out info online to get an idea of how much we would get back. the tax firm got the same amount we did, and we still had to get all the needed info and mailed the tax info ourselves. we spent over $200. we thought the tax place could at least send the taxes out for that kind of money. to make matters worse the man who did the taxes had no idea what he was doing. he actually said that I should be doing others taxes, not him. we will never go to a tax firm again.

I use TurboTax. Our return is pretty basic, I also do my mother-in-law and my parents returns.

I'm fortunate enough to have an uncle who is a CPA that will check the tax return I do myself and let me know if I missed anything (which I often do!).
