How much money are you spending compared to 1-2 months ago?

The economy seems to be showing glimmers of recovery.  On the other hand, many of us are out of work or know others who are.  So, we were curious, how are you feeling about spending your money over the last 1-2 months?

Please tell us what you think.  We want to know!

I'm spending more (11.6%)

I'm spending the same (33.3%)

I'm spending less (55.1%)

I spent way more the last few months because of the Holidays, obviously, but I'm also trying to spend less now because I lost one of my two roommates so the cost of living just went back up. Oh how I miss going out to eat occassionally :-(

I still use coupons and shop bargains, but with the price of EVERYTHINg on the rise, I am actually spending more. I am just buying the essentials too.

I am trying to be more selective in what I buy and am working on curbing my impulse buying habits! With that said, I plan to spend the same amount but to buy the RIGHT things instead of things that I really don't need or won't use!

I have been spending less because my husband works construction and has been laid off, but it happens every year for about 4-5 months so we get by with coupons, BOGO offfers, etc. I do this anyway but I do it more during these winter months.

Out of sheer passion I recommend you look into Dave Ramsey. I do not participate in any marketing groups for him, but following his lessons have changed my life! His "Free Cars for Life" video exposes why auto loans are stupid. If you have debt pay it off NOW (even your house!) and paying cash for everything, (even your house!), can save you a million dollars in your lifetime. When Drew and I got married we kicked our butts in gear and starting tackling our debt. We paid off apx $32k in a year and a half! We budget everything we spend and talk about our financial goals and allowances every month. Because of our discipline we recently have been able to loosen up and live more freely. We paid off our debt in August. We "tell" our money what to do and where to go, and all of our bad money habits have been exposed.

Financial situations are so unpredictable right now so I am trying to spend less in case.

I am back on the coupon train... I love giving stuff to my kids schools. Stuff they need like clean and wipes.

I'm spending more now because everything has increased in price, especially groceries. In other ways I'm trying to be very thrifty. I'm expecting high utility bills next month so we won't have anything extra this winter. Although I am very thankful for what we do have I can see others around who are struggling to make ends meet.
