When you buy brand name products over store brands, why do you do so? (Check all that apply)

Brand name vs. store brand...hmmm...there are so many factors we think about when choosing between brand names and store brands.  Price is often a big factor in our decisions, but we’re also thinking about product quality, convenience, and how comfortable we are with the brand.

Aside from price, what do you think about when choosing between a brand name and a store brand?

I'm attached to the brand names I've grown up with and always used (44.5%)

The brand name product is better quality (56.9%)

The brand name product costs less than the store brand (25.1%)

I'm concerned the store brand might not be available much longer (1.5%)

I buy generic whenever I can, but I will not skimp on toilet paper...name brand for me. I'm a coupon junkie so most of the time I can get name brands for close to the same price as generic. On that note, I saw a 12 pack of toilet paper for $9.29 at the store the other day!! Didn't buy that particular name brand!

We stopped buying Diet Pepsi and switched to Fred Meyer's Diet K soda (much cheaper)...LOL the other day I had a Diet Pepsi and it was gross! I've adjusted my taste to prefer the cheap stuff apparently!

I'm a stock piling kind of person who prefers brand name products over generic. So when i see brand name products on sale for BOGO or a great price cut i use coupons which my grocery store -Bi-Lo- doubles up to .99 cents everyday. So i stockpile those items we use most often so i don't really have to use generic products. There's one item i buy that i wouldn't give up whether it was on sale or if i had a coupon on not & that's my Coke Zero & A&W diet rootbeer...gotta have them :P

Maybe I'm weird but I don't taste a difference in ketchup AT ALL! Also, I've worked in restaurants for a few years now and I will tell you that a lot of times you may have a Heinz bottle on your table, but it's really a restaurant supply company's brand of ketchup. However, I love store brands- for the most part they taste the same to me and I'd rather not spend more on the marketing or product design since I'm throwing out the box anyways! I find that with coupons and sales I can often get the name brand items for cheaper though.

I would not take store brands for several categories, personal care items such as makeup, skincare; laundry detergents, most food items and anything for my children. I don't want to take a risk and just to save 50cents.

I typically buy brand name products after being burned several times with store-brand option quality. The few exceptions are - ketchup, yellow mustard - I've never seen a difference.

I don't usually buy the store brand. I use coupons and usually the name brand is cheaper for me. Then you get used to the taste of certain things and don't want to try the store brand.
