Are you eating out less but splurging more on food at home?

Dining out in restaurants is one of the first luxuries to take a back seat in tough economic times. A year ago you might have splurged on a pricey Italian meal, but today that indulgence might be replaced by a homemade lasagna--with gourmet cheese. Where are you saving money on food? What are you splurging on? Have your eating habits changed with the economy?

Yes, I'm still saving money even though I'm buying premium brands for home cooked meals. (15.8%)

No, I am eating out less and also trying to save on groceries. (61.1%)

My dining out habits remain unchanged. (23.1%)

We still out maybe 4 or 5 times a month. I am using more of the BOGO coupons that several restaurants are offering. I have noticed lately that a lot of the BOGO coupons that were once good for dinner entrees are now only good for lunch time meals. I am using more & more coupons at the grocery store lately. I am trying more of the packaged meals that you simply add meat/vegeables to since they are so easy to prepare & have so many coupons available.

We save going out as a treat. I use tons of coupons specially since my supermarket doubles them.

I have been going home on my lunch break & eating there instead of ordering out.

I really like your description, a pricey Italian meal. We decided over 10 years ago that pasta just is not that expensive. When a restaurant wants to charge as much for lasagna as for shrimp ... they won't get our business. Our eating habits have not changed, because we were already living the life you people are just now coming to.

Going out is saved for date nights with my husband. The biggest driver was weight loss more than financial since it is just the two of us at home.

We have been eating out alot less than we have in the past trying to save money.I always use coupons combined with sales for my groceries. We eat out as a special treat once in a while so we eat at home more where i can save more money and keep a tighter control on our budget.Plus i think eating out alot puts too much weight on a person...not so healthy most times.

Since I have been separated there is no longer a need for me to cook everyday so I grab something on the run. Usually something inexpensive and as healthy as it can be.
