Recently, the economic news about stronger than expected retail sales, has given many a glimmer of hope! As shoppers however, we seem to be constantly looking for smart ways to save money.
If you were going to switch brands from a national brand to a less expensive brand, would you be more likely to do this for household products like paper towels/detergent or personal care products like face cream and deodorant?
We’d like to hear what you think!
More likely to replace a brand name household product (e.g., paper towlels) with a generic version (87.3%)
More likely to replace a brand name personal care product (e.g., face cream) with a generic version (12.7%)
I would rather discontinue household products to go for generic any day of the week. I'm not adverse to trying new personal products but they do need to be from a reputable company - I have a hard time even thinking about buying generic eyeliner or eyecream or mascara! So close to my eyes, no thank you! Facecream? Again, not about to try a generic brand and risk a puberty-like breakout!
A friend told me I should try the dollar store products for cleaning and I honestly didnt think they would be that good. Well I was happily suprised to find out that they work just as well as some products I was paying 3 - 5 times more in cost. I'm not so sure about beaty products, I have some favorites that I prefer paying more for.
I would rather try generic cleaning products than personal care products.
Paper towels are paper towels but my face care products are what I would still pay full price for
I very seldom buy brand name products, esp. for things I am going to through away.
I love saving so I always try to use generic products. Something I do is to compare the ingredients and for the most part they are usually identical so some people might be paying big bucks for brand names that have the same ingredients as generic products. Juwash
Yes household products are changeable , no personel care ones
I would replace any one of my brand name products , but not my pur mineral makeup.
I would replace my brand name household items than my brand name face cream or shampoo and conditioner. i will still pay full price for my personal care products. I would try generic cleaning products.
There are very few "magical" household products where only one will do the job right. By the time I find a personal care product that I really like, however, I'd be more likely to pay good money for that than for some household product, especially when money is tight.
