Everyone should help their family members. What an eye opener to see what you are personally going to have to decide on in your future. Medicare plans available number in the hundreds and vary completely. Don't let your mom get ripped off!
My mother is deceased and my father is in a nursing home at age 71 due to a stroke so I am VERY involved in his health choices because he is unable to do so himself. Even if he wasn't disabled, I'd still help because of the choices are overwhelming!
I have some what helped my mother in law pick the right health insurance to fit her needs and help her save money along the way. She is on a fixed income, so money is relavent to her. When you become older is is vital to have health coverage !
I helped my grandmother pick out her health insurance.
I don't have any older family members to help, but I would definately help when it will happen. It is a thought you never think of.
My father is 91 and is in rehab now I am working with my family trying to get the best help for him.
My dad is deceased and my mother is very much in charge of her own life at this point. She would not welcome my input right now. In the future, I hope to be available to help with these decisions. It's part of being "family".
My husbands grandmother lives with us and we are her soul care providers. But some stuff like that she still does on her own.
Although my Grandparents are still living, they are of sound mind and make their own decisions. They live by old school rules, where you don't discuss your personal finances with anyone. However, if they ever became unable to make decisions regarding their healthcare, I would be more than happy to assist them in making a smart choice regarding their affairs.
