I quit smoking October 1st, 2008. It surprised even me that I was able to do it...and it's the best thing I've ever done. I had tried to quit many times in the past, but had always told myself I would not smoke after turning 30 (Feb. '09) so I HAD to...

I would still like some help though, because it is really hard. I started again after a 4 year quit. I would love help!

my aunt smoked along time ago and she just quit cold turkey. I think that it can be done like that for some but for others it takes a little help from other devices.

Cigarettes are over $7 a pack in Maine...good time to quit smoking! What I don't understand or think is fair, is that tax on cigarettes is about 150%. Just because some one smokes and you don't agree with it, why should they pay 150% tax on that product? It is a money scam for the state and the non-smokers are the ones pushing it through. I'm not saying that smoking is healthy, because it's not. But I think that discriminating against smokers has gone a little too far and if an adult wants to smoke that's their decision...their not hurting anyone else or affecting anyone else's lives. Leave the smokers alone...the smokers aren't standing in your face saying quit gorging to the obese or quit drinking to the alcoholics, quit gambling to the gamblers, etc. You know where I am coming from it's just gone way too far!

I don't smoke but my husband does. I want him to quit so bad. I did at one time smoke, had a terrible attack of asthma and had to go to the hospital, after I got home all my cigarettes went in the trash, I have NEVER picked them up again, and I am so proud of myself .That was 5 years ago. now I wish for my husband to do the same.I wish I could find a way to help him stop as easily as I did.

No. I have never smoked, nor would I ever, and I have a hard time understanding how anybody starts anymore. It's one thing to find it hard to stop smoking once you start, but why with the info out there about all the REALLY bad side effects, would anybody start? Yuck!

I quit once for 6 months with the help of Chantix. I was going through a lot of stress and made a conscious choice to start again. I thought I quit once, I can do it again! What a DUMB choice! I tried taking the chantix again a few months ago and it did not work as well the second time around. So, I am still smoking! Due to health issues I really do need to quit again, so I will be trying the chantix again soon. Unfortunately, the Chantix is the only product I ever had any success at all with.
