The last time you purchased paint, what was the most important factor?

Sometimes a fresh color and coat of paint is just the trick to brighten a room and even our mood!  Many SheSpeaks members have talked about their love for redecorating rooms with simple tricks like a new coat of paint.

    After using an inferior paint, (after it dried, the color was uneven and slightly streaked,) I definately look for quality first.

    Quality really makes a huge difference when it comes to paint. I found that out when I had to paint over my kid's ink and crayon drawings on the wall. I'm fairly artistic, so when it comes to choosing color, I stand in the room and try to think about the whole personality of the room and the person (people) who will be spending most of their time in there. I try to imagine different colors and how they would affect the darkness or light in the room and also how it would make people feel. That's usually how I pick colors.

    I want the color I like.Pick a broad version first..then choose brand and narrow it down to exact color.

    The last time I bought paint it was to do up a nursery, so for me the safety factor far outweighed anything else.

    Color is important, but I also like to use a good quality paint!

    quality is of the utmost importance, i can always live with a little different shade

    I go for quality because with that you will get the perfect color you select.

    Quality and color are essential. A good quality paint makes the job so much easier and the perfect color makes it so much more pleasant when the job is finished.

    I totally agree with the "Quality" and "Environmental" aspects here, but my concern is also Price. Sure, I do find myself paying the extra bucks for better quality and I am always concerned about the environment...but come on, there's got to be a better way to produce afordable products that don't cost a small fortune. In today's economy the price of everything I buy matters. Of course quality is a huge issue. If you're paying less for lesser quality initially, you're going to wind up paying more in the long run because you'll have to re-buy, replace or re-do whatever the lesser quality product failed to accomplish...but come on. Seriously...I'm not willing to break the bank just to get what I want everytime. I refuse to pay $3 for a cup of coffee when I can brew my own at home for pennies...why should I have to spend hundreds of dollars just to paint over the bad color choice of a previouis resident?
