When you buy brand name products over store brands, why do you do so? (Check all that apply)

Brand name vs. store brand...hmmm...there are so many factors we think about when choosing between brand names and store brands.  Price is often a big factor in our decisions, but we’re also thinking about product quality, convenience, and how comfortable we are with the brand.

Aside from price, what do you think about when choosing between a brand name and a store brand?

I'm attached to the brand names I've grown up with and always used (44.5%)

The brand name product is better quality (56.9%)

The brand name product costs less than the store brand (25.1%)

I'm concerned the store brand might not be available much longer (1.5%)

There are a few items that I will always buy the brand name. Mayo is one and toilet paper is another.

I usually wont buy a name brand item unless I have a coupon that will offer significant savings vs the store brand,. There are a few exceptions to this rule, and one of them is coffee, I wont sacrifice flavor for a few cents savings when it comes to my coffee.

i have not found claims that the store brand is 'just as good' to be true. There are often substitutes done on the ingredient list for cheaper ingredients or more additives. Additionally, when it comes to things like laundry products, I have family members with severe allergies. I cannot risk using a name in which I do not have complete trust.

In some cases I will buy the store brand, but mostly I like name brands. The one that comes to mind is my pasta; I love Barilla pasta and will not sacrifice the flavor by going to a store brand. I have gotten into the habit of trying store brands of things; sometimes I have been pleasantly surprised and other times sadly disappointed. I'll try certain things at least once and will soon know whether to go back for more!

I make my decisions soley based on performance or taste. I agree that no other ketchup compares to Heinz, no matter how many other brands/generics I've tried so I stick with Heinz. Conversely, there are many, many store brands that I use and I am very happy with doing so.

I usually stick to one brand if I really like it. Otherwise I will buy some store brand things but they have to taste good.

I struggle on a very tight budget, so store brands are a godsend! 9/10 times I will pick up the store brand, unless there's an incredible sale on the name brand. I actually prefer Wal-Mart's coffee (in the red can) to any of the name brands, and it's cheaper too! The only thing I know I can't compromise on is mayonnaise. It has to be Hellman's/Best Foods.

I tend to buy many brand names due to sentimental reasons such as food or products my parent bought when I was young.
