Considering the weak economy, if you had to replace a brand name product you purchase for something less expensive, which would you more likely choose?

Recently, the economic news about stronger than expected retail sales, has given many a glimmer of hope!  As shoppers however, we seem to be constantly looking for smart ways to save money.

If you were going to switch brands from a national brand to a less expensive brand, would you be more likely to do this for household products like paper towels/detergent or personal care products like face cream and deodorant?

We’d like to hear what you think!

More likely to replace a brand name household product (e.g., paper towlels) with a generic version (87.3%)

More likely to replace a brand name personal care product (e.g., face cream) with a generic version (12.7%)

Considering the weak economy, if you had to replace a brand name product you purchase for something less expensive, which would you more likely choose?

I would replace my household items before a personal care item. I'm much more attached to my deodorant than I am to my paper towels!

I would replace household items before my moisturizer. Sometimes you can find generic household items that compare in quality but I don't take too many chance with this one old face I have!

I would replace household items before personal care items because I have had some bad experiences with some non name brand personal care products.

I would replace a household product before a personal care item. It's hard to find a personal generic product comparable to a brand name.

Personal care products (like things you put on your face and body) are so sensitive and have to be just right for you. It's harder to switch to a store-brand version of something like that. Paper towels and such aren't so personalized, so they're easier to replace. In fact, I've slowly been replacing household products with generic brands anyway!

It would definitely be the household product. Replacing a brand name personal care product I feel, could lead to more costly repair of the results.

I would replace the household items first. I would not replace my personal care products until I absolutely had to!

I have switched to generic products for the house already but I cannot and will not switch my personal care products. I can't say that I haven't tried, but /veI always gone back to my origional personal care products mainly because they work better than any other.
