I read the book and watched the movie...Thoroughly enjoyed. An inside look into a Carnival with many twists and turns. How hard it was, how greedy it can be and the treatment of animals were sometimes horrendous. Danger can be just aaround the corner, but also a commaraderie among th carnies as well. They were a family. I have recommended to several of my friends.

I loved this book. I ordered on my Kindle only due to "Edward" playing in the movie. But I could not put it down. It was captivating and all new and amazing details about circus life that I had never realized before. This will be a re-read for me! I have the money on my netflix list. I can not wait to see it.

I read this book just as we were moving my elderly mother into assisted living. It especially touched me due to that coincidence. I haven't seen the movie, but the book is a great read.

It was a great story! I really enjoyed the story. I think it would be a great read.

I loved this book and the movie! It has been a long time since I became attached to characters in a book. One of the BEST reads in a long time.

I really loved the book and the characters. It really brought to light the evil and abusive world of circuses both to animals and people. Thankfully Barnum is finally getting fined for their abuse of elephants. Maybe Finally they will became banned!!!

A sad, romantic, beautifully-written book. It took a while to get into it, but it is worth the wait once the storyline picks up. It's narrated very lyrically and was hard to put down. Definitely read the book before seeing the movie, which is good but as often the case pales in comparison.

A friend told me to read this book and so I had high expectations. It seemed like quite a sad story from the start, but then the action picked up. The story went back and forth between past and present throughout the book, causing you to speculate as to the narrator's actual identity. Overall, the book was sad as the story and subject matter were very sad -- specifically the hard life of a circus worker and the tendency for people to take advantage of others. Despite the love story, I found the book to be a downer and I have not recommended it to my friends.

Great book, exciting love story with some education about bootleg liqour, circus lfe on a train and elephants.

Very well written. Draws you in with an elderly gentleman who is brought back with thoughts of his youth in a traveling circus. Not only entertaining, it gives detailed description of the hardships of these entertainers & background players during the great depression.

This was one of my favorite books! It was really interesting the way the story unfolded. I loved seeing it through the old man's eyes. Though graph writing with visual story telling this book came alive.

I loved this book. I have to say there were a few slow moments in the book. But I loved how I can feel the Circus atmosphere just by her writing! It was fun it feel it come alive.

If you love page turners, then this is a book for you. It starts out slow, but it is worth it. My mother gave me a copy and I absolutely adore it. Definitely worth sharing or gifting.

Great book. Slow to get into but once you do, you can't put it down!!!! Looking forward to seeing the movie!

I highly recommend this book. It touched my heart and I could not put it down! It had some very gritty parts but what a wonderful read.
