Who says a time out should only be for children?

Jokes aside, a few minutes a day to disconnect and clear our minds is priceless. The opportunity to take a few breaths, relax our shoulders and just sit still can be exactly what we need to recharge and finish the day with excitement and a smile on our face.

It's easier said than done, we know! Crazy schedules, friends, children, spouses, and not to mention today's technology almost always keeps you connected to something or someone. But the benefits of finding that time, even just for a few minutes, can make you feel like a whole new person, like your old self again, maybe even like superwoman.

Research has shown (and supporters can attest) that a little time and effort can go a long way. Practicing yoga, stretching, meditating and running a nice bubble bath are just a few methods of how we can disconnect, and relax. But you, our members, are really the experts. You're the multi-tasking gurus. You're the working professional, stay-at-home mom and party planner all wrapped into one and you do it day after day.

So we want to know, how do you do it  ALL and still find time to disconnect? How do you find a few minutes a day or every couple of days for "Me Time" to rejuvenate your mind and body? Do you have help, set the calendar, or stick to a routine or are you self-aware and just know when it's time to retreat on your own.  Do you find it's easy to put down your cell phone or does someone else unravel your fingers from the keyboard?

Share your experience with us by posting how you disconnect and how you reflect, and you'll be entered to Win 1 of 5 cool relaxation gadgets.  While many relaxation methods can be done with only a few minutes of peace and quiet, we wanted to compile some cool gadgets to help inspire you to find those few minutes a day for yourself.

The contest starts Wednesday, October 5th and ends Monday, October 10th at midnight EST. There will be 5 lucky winners with one winner receiving the grand prize, the Sharper Image Foot Massager, valued at over $50.

Here are the prizes:

Sharper Image foot massager ($50 value)

Aromatherapy Vaporizer with Oil ($40 value)

Conair Foot bath with bubbles and heat ($20 value)

AND

2 Motorized Scalp Massagers ($12 value each)

Good luck!

Typically after the kids retreat to their rooms at 9pm during the week, I take a little time to myself in the living room, about 10 minutes, and perform stress relieving stretches that we do at work on a daily basis, before we actually start to work. The stretches include pulling the head from side to side and holding it in one position for 10 seconds, even bringing my chin to my chest and holding it for 10 seconds. We also have one that is called the genie position, where we take our hands together and push them up in the air like a genie. Another one that is great is sitting straight up at the end of a chair, and bringing one foot over to rest on the opposite knee, and then pushing on the other knee to stretch the thigh. Repeating that on each leg for 10 seconds each is really a stress reliever, along with the other stretches.

I raised 4 sons so I know how hard it is to make time for yourself! But I always make the time because I know I need to catch up with myself so that I can be there for my husband and family when they need me! I find different ways to relax after a busy day. Sometimes just enjoying a magazine in a quiet spot at home is heaven! I also like to catch up on my computer at the end of the day. It can be so enjoyable and relaxing! Especiallly SheSpeaks site. I always like to see whats new . Thanks!

When I get home from work I go for a brisk walk to relax, rejuvenate and destress. It really helps me feel better and get my exercise in. Everyday I set aside 30 minutes to do things for me, such as read a book, take a bubble bath or indulge in a bowl of my favorite frozen yogurt. Sometimes I have to remind myself to just breathe and enjoy life to relax.

My baby is 10 days old today so relaxing isn't something I have seen much of lately but...when he is sleeping and everything that needs to be done is done, I get my heating pad and put in on my c-section incision, get my big fluffy blanket, grab a few pillows and prop my feet up, and just lay there and give myself little mini hand massages or a mini facial (without product, just the massage part). It is more relaxing than I ever thought it could be!

If stress is getting to me, I find the time to read a book. A good mystery will take my mind in another direction and not think of what was stressing me out. There are times I get totally involved in the book and have to find out who done it! I am ready to go again.....

After surviving an EF5 tornado in May, working a full time job, and taking care of my family...destressing is a must for me. In the evenings, after dinner and dishes are done, I find a time to escape to the hammock in my back yard. It's under the most wonderful tree! So I just relax, looking at the leaves and sky. To reflect of all the things I'm so blessed with. It's the quiet and peaceful time of my day.

Sometimes at night to relax, I just lie in bed and think about trivial things like girls names for every letter of the alphabet or boys names for every letter of the alphabet or which TV shows I like are on which days.

There is nothing like getting a few minutes to relax. My husband and I have 3 kids and another on the way. We have a 6 year old, 5 year old, 2 year old, and our next bundle of joy is due to come December 5th. My husband works full-time while I'm a stay-at-home mom. I recently started back in college and currently taking 4 classes on-line. I have found it is very time consuming and even more so with a 2 year old that wants mommy's attention all the time. :) Every minute I can get to myself is amazing. I like to just step outside once in a while and take a puzzle book with me, do a couple puzzles while my little one plays on the swing set. I also enjoy getting a massage from my husband. That is one of the most relaxing things ever.

At night, when I an done with everything, I spent sometime alone in the bathroom doing some skincare stuffs. Like, sometimes I oil my hair, wax the upper lips or tweez the brows or facial or mask. I think it is pretty relaxing to do something for yourself at the end of the day. Somtime this me-time last for 5 mins and the other times upto half hour.

To relax, I lay back and concentrate on my breathing. I learned this in yoga. I breath first from my stomach, then my chest and then my throat and just concentrate on slow deep breathing....it works. I also spritz lavendar on my pillow....ahhhh

One of my three dogs helps me take time to just breathe and relax. A large rescue dog, he has an innate ability to know when I most need to step back, sit down, chill out. He will find me anywhere in or out of the house and put his head on my knee or poke me with his nose. That means it is lap time. We sit on the floor, 77 pounds of dog "on" my lap. I always feel better after lap time, even though the dog is the one who seems to be benefiting from it!
