You can use coupons to save on groceries, but did you know another way to save depends a lot of which day of the week you’re stocking up? Some new research shows just what days are best to save on different items and why you should avoid weekend shopping at all costs.

Today reports about the new research from the Ibotta, an app that offers cash back deals from retailers. Saturday or Sunday may seem like the perfect time to get your grocery errands done for the week, but according to Ibotta these are actually the two most expensive days of the week to shop. Another expert, Phil Lempert who runs Supermarket Guru, agrees that the weekend is the absolute worst time to find deals on groceries. Lempert says that a lot of grocery items go on sale Wednesdays and Thrusdays, making midweek the optimal time to save some cash.

The research also shows that there are certain days of the week that are best for buying different products. Like, lets says you’re all out of wine - on Tuesdays wine is generally 4% cheaper than any other day of the week. Bread will be around 2% cheaper on Wednesdays and beer around 1% cheaper on this day. Thursdays are a good day to load up on your snacks when they are typically 1% less and Friday you’ll pay 1% less for ice cream and your fruits and veggies.

Which days of the week do you do your grocery shopping?

Do you find more deals if you skip shopping on the weekends?
