Fenugreek was very helpful when I was breastfeeding my son. I always felt like I could produce enough breastmilk for him on my own. When I began using Fenugreek I was able to produce plenty of breastmilk so I could keep up with his demands for breastmilk.

Fenugreek is supposed to help a nursing mom with low milk production make more milk. My son is 3 months old, and I exclusively breastfeed him. When he was about 1.5 months old, I began pumping, to get a supply of milk to freeze for when I have to eventually go back to work. Everything was fine the first few weeks, but as he got older, he began eating less and less. I was able to pump a decent amount of milk in the morning to store, but it gradually got less and less, until I was unable to pump more than 1-2 ounces from both breasts. I started pumping more and feeding more, but it didn't help. I did some research online and found out about Fenugreek. After talking to my doctor and getting the okay, I went to the nearest GNC and bought myself a bottle. I take 3 pills 3 times a day, and the effect has been dramatic! I took 2 doses in the day before I went to bed, and when I woke up to pump, I was able to get almost 6 ounces in one session! I did notice two days later however, that my sweat was smelling like maple syrup. But now, I barely notice it. I haven't noticed any negative side effects, and my son is fine as well. I should also note that in order to get the full effect, you should still pump or feed quite often. The saying, "The more you use, the more you make" definitely holds true to using this herb. I've noticed that if I pump daily at least 3 times a day, my breasts are constantly "full" of milk. But if I miss even one pumping session, I am unable to pump a lot less than I normally have been. Bottom line is I HIGHLY recommend this herb if you are having low supply issues. You can buy it relatively cheap. I use the vitamin store's brand, and it is less than $10 for 200 pills.
