Description: Adorable sugar cookies that hang from a coffee or tea cup. Festive and fun for the holidays!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups
all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp.
baking powder
1/2 cup
granulated sugar
1/2 cup
butter, salted and cut into cubes
1/2 tsp.
vanilla extract
1/4 tsp.
almond extract
1/4 cup
colored sugar, if desired
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment
paper or a Silpat. Combine the flour and baking powder, set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer cream together the butter and sugar.
Add the egg and extracts and mix. Gradually add the flour one cup
at a time, mixing just until combined. Do not over mix.
Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it together with your
hands. Roll the dough out on a floured surface about 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into shapes using a cookie cutter. Place cut cookies on the
prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with decorating sugar if desired.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light brown on the edges.
Let cookies set on the pan for about 5 minutes before removing
them to a cooling rack.
Inspired by the one made by Applebee's, a delicious cake with pecans, ice cream, candied pecans, and a maple syrup sauce.
