Very interesting book!! Having been a teenager in the era of Vanderbilt jeans and a little familiar with Gloria Vanderbilt's history from the movie "Poor Little Rich Girl" and various interviews, I wanted to learn more. The rest of the family history I was only familiar with because of the name attached to so many historical buildings and the railroad. I found this book fascinating! It's a very detailed story beginning with the first family members arriving in the U.S. with the name Van Der Bilt. It also describes many addresses in New York City that were once homes owned by family members and are now famous landmarks, the Empire State Building being one of them. I definitely recommend this book.
