AMC Rolls Out Monthly Plan To Get You Off the Couch and in the Theater

Believe me, we completely understand how great it is to be able to binge watch your favorite movies and shows from the comfort of your living room. But recently, we’ve been given a couple of really excellent reasons to get off the couch and into a dark movie theater. In an effort to compete with the movie subscription plan MoviePass, AMC has rolled out a $20/month plan that will allow you to catch up on all the new blockbusters this summer.

People reports about AMC’s new subscription service called Stub A-List  that allows customers to see up to 3 new movies per week when they pay a $19.95 a month membership fee. Both 3-D and IMAX films are included in the fee, and AMC is even throwing in free upgrades on soda and popcorn with the deal.

Of course, MoviePass still remains a less expensive option at just $9.99 a month, allowing customers to see one free movie per day. And they’ve had no trouble pointing this out upon hearing the news that AMC is their new competitior. MoviePass’ Twitter feed just got real with some pretty bold tweets. One of their tweets states, “Heard AMC jumped on board the movie subscription train. Twice the price for ¼ the theater network and 60% fewer movies. Thanks for making us look good AMC!” And an even sassier one later, “AMC has repeatedly disparaged our model as a way to discourage our growth because all along they wanted to launch their own, more expensive plan. We want to make movies more accessible, they want more profit.”
